How can a blogger earn a day?
Taking blogging as occupation
If you're passionate about a subject and you have decent writing skills, blogging definitely could be an alternative career path for you. The short answer is, yes, it is possible to make a living—a very good one, even—by writing online. On the other hand, the hard truth is most of the millions of bloggers today don't make enough to support themselves just with their blogs. Let's take a look at what's involved.
The truth is, it's not as easy to carve out your space on the web and make a name for yourself as a blogger today, as it was back when blogging was brand new. And it takes a lot of time to build your audience to the point where it's successful. (The most successful, multi-million dollar blogs today were started around 2005 or earlier.) So it's definitely not something you can get rich quickly with, though many people do work on their blogs full time.
There are two main approaches to professional blogging: You could be a freelance or employed blogger for an established company or site (like those of us here at Lifehacker), or you can start your own blog from scratch.
Getting a job as a professional blogger is much easier than starting at ground zero with your own blog. Those who get a job with an established company can earn a good living right off the bat.
ESTIMATED INCOME OF BLOGGERS
As for running your own blog, a survey of 1,000 bloggers by Blogging.com in 2012 found that 17% are able to sustain their lifestyle or support their family with their blogs, while 81% never make even $100 from blogging. The other 2% spend less than 2 hours a day blogging but make more than $150K
Salaries for bloggers vary widely. This report from Glassdoor shows ranges from $19K to $79K a year for the title "blogger," while other sources say the 14% of bloggers who earn a salary make, on average, $24K a year (or $33K for corporate bloggers). Likewise, freelance bloggers can make anything from under $10 a post to $100 or more for a relatively short post.
NOW THIS IS HOW YOU CAN EARN EVERYDAY AS A BLOGGER
1. Offer services
While selling your services may not make you rich (look to passive income to do that!), it’s a great way to make some extra cash and to build up your reputation. Sell services directly related to the topic of your blog (e.g. catering for a food blog), or freelance blogging services like writing or graphic design.
2. Sell ad space
This is the strategy that most bloggers start with when looking to monetize their blog. However, keep in mind you’re not limited to selling banner ad spots (which is generally an ineffective strategy these days). Consider other areas you could rent out: space on your pop-up box, social media headers, the “P.S.” on your email newsletters think outside the box (quite literally).
3. Write an ebook
Have in-depth knowledge in your niche? Package it up into an ebook and sell it on your blog. I’d generally advise against selling it (at least exclusively) on Amazon or Kobo, as you’ll probably be able to charge much less. If you’ve already built up a solid audience, you can probably change anywhere from $5 for a very short one, all the way up to $39+.
4. In-content affiliate links
Have a particularly popular blog post that you’d like to monetize? Add affiliate links within your post content. Not sure where to start with finding affiliate programs? You can always start with the most popular affiliate program – Amazon - or find relevant products via an affiliate network like ShareASale or Clickbank.
5. Create a resource page
Resource lists tell your audience what tools, product or services you use and/or recommend. They’re a great way to provide a valuable service to your audience, while also earning you money through affiliate links or paid placements. Just be sure to clearly disclose which links you benefit from, and which you don’t.
6. Ad networks: (Beginners)
There are ad networks that are the simplest and widely used method for monetizing a blog.
The two Ad networks which are most popular are:
- Google AdSense (Offered by Google)
- Media.net
You need to have a blog to get approval on these ad networks. They show ads automatically based on the context of your article and also based on user interest. Most of the new blogs use these methods to monetize as it gives recurring income. Since the ads shown are of high quality, they don’t affect the user experience.
7. Native Advertising
Native advertising has been one of the forefronts of making money from blogging. Especially, news and jobs kind of blogs can make a really high income with Native advertising.
There are a few native advertising solutions that are worth your time and effort of implementation.
- Taboola
- Outbrain (High-quality native ads)
- Mgid
- AdSense (AdSense also offers native ads)
8. Launch online course (Membership site): Advanced
- Can you convert your textbook into a video format?
- Can you add the checklist, downloadable templates?
- Can you create a 1-2 hour video course?
If your answer is yes, then this method is definitely for you. Thanks to technology, now launching an online course are easy for anyone and if you are giving the unique course, your chances of reaching $ 1 million goals are really high.
9. Direct Advertisements
There’s no question that AdSense is the best advertisement program for bloggers, but it has some limitations. The biggest limitation is the amount you get paid per click.
If you manage to grab direct advertisements, replace those AdSense units with direct ads instead.
The best way to get started with the direct advertisement is by trying different networks and adding a page on your blog called “Media-kit or Advertise with us” to get new deals....
10. Run campaign for brands: (advanced)
This one is perfect for any type of blog with an established audience base. You could help brands reach the target audience by running the campaign for them. For this, you will be doing a brand collaboration, running webinars, even paid Ads or making videos.
You will see an increased number of blogs doing it with various brands. Keep an eye on this type as its already becoming one of the hottest ways to monetize a blog.
The key here is to keep it entertaining, add value and create a community around your brand. Depending upon your style and consistency, you could mint a lot of money with this strategy.
